Unsafe sex and teenage pregnancy problem for teenage girls is not an uncommon problem faced by parents - leading to substantial stress for the teenager and the whole family. Adolescent sex is perhaps the most common teenager problem that parents face, as there are no societal pressures against experiencing sex as there were in older days. In the UK a total of 41,325 women under 18 fell pregnant in 2008 of which 49% had an abortion. On the other hand USA has the highest rate of teen pregnancy rate in the industrialized world, with one-third of girls getting pregnant before the age of 20. USA has 750,000 teen pregnancies annually. Eight in ten of these pregnancies are unintended and 81 percent are to unmarried teens. All these statistics look scary and hence it is important to be aware of all the symptoms of imminent teenage pregnancy problem, so that you can nip the issue in the bud. Below are some of the symptoms that can help you identify if your teenager is indulging in unsafe sex or suffering from some sexual disease.

Public Display of increased Sexuality: Public displays of affection towards the opposite sex are another sign that parents can't miss. Whilst teens might be secretive in the initial phase of a relationship, indulging in small touching games when people are around, it is a definite give away. Staring at the object of their interest and imitating their actions and words is also a clear indicator that things have progressed in the relationship.

Object Giveaways: The biggest possible clues about adolescent sex are usually found in their rooms. Most teenagers resent their parents entering their rooms so if you want to look around you will need to go in after they leave. You might encounter packets of condoms or birth control pills hidden inside books or clothes. There could also be medicines pertaining to some sexual diseases or tools or props for sexual pleasure in their room, which could give further clues. Other thing to look out for in your kid's rooms is adult magazines or DVD's. If you do hear your kid on the computer late in the night and hear some unusual sounds emanating from their room, it could be a signal. While most of us would cringe at the thought of entering our teen's room in this manner it becomes a necessity at times if you are really concerned.

Internet sex has become increasingly common in recent years and has been a cause of distress to a lot of parents. It will be worth checking on cookies and history of websites visited by your teenager in their absence and also to check on their friends in chat rooms to ensure that they are not in touch with suspicious people. Make sure your teens are aware of potential dangers online, and encourage them to confide in someone if they have any concerns about the identity of an online friend.

Behavioural Changes: Your teen might appear tired in the morning, which could be due to late night chatting on the internet or watching movies on the computer. They might become more aware of their body and their dress sense could change. They might subconsciously start feeling certain parts of their body, which again is the sign of being more sexually aware. They might also ask embarrassing questions, which could be seen as sign of their inquisitiveness and curiosity. When your teen shows any of the above behavioural changes, it is worth probing a bit and ensuring that they have not gone too far in their sexual indulgence.
